Ringlink 3.03 is available for download. The format of the template variables has been changed, in order to address a conflict when JavaScript is used for customizing templates.
Accordingly, if you have installed version 3.0x, it's advisable to upgrade before customizing the templates. If you just have customized any of the templates, you will have to redo it. I'm sorry for the inconvenience that may cause.
Version 3.03 also includes an updated Turkish language file.
Enjoy!

Ringlink 3.02 is available for download. This release includes a couple of clarifications, compared to version 3.0, to prevent problems in connection with upgrades. It also fixes an embarrassing bug in version 3.01.
If you have successfully installed version 3.0, there is no reason to upgrade to 3.02. But if you had the 'bad luck' to install version 3.01, and the version of Perl is lower than v5.8.0, you should at least replace the rlmain.pm file as soon as possible.
Enjoy!

Ringlink 3.0 is recommended to be run under "taint mode", i.e. with the -T switch included at the first line of the *.pl files. For that reason, when setting $rlmain::sitecountpath, and possibly $rlmain::datapath, in rlconfig.pm, you need to specify full pathnames without using the $ENV{DOCUMENT_ROOT} variable.
A couple of comments in rlconfig.pm will be changed in next Ringlink release. In the meantime, please disregard the current suggestion to use $ENV{DOCUMENT_ROOT}.

- Publicly available tool for searching a ring.
- Template based customization of the output (previous template files have been exchanged for 'real' templates).

Important Note
Before starting an upgrade, make sure that Perl version 5.005 or higher is available on the server.

Having just migrated from RobRing, I'm used to seeing sites sorted by date and seeing site statistics sorted by date joined. Is it possible, or in development, to do this with ringlink?
Within the ringadmin, it would be good if date joined was one of the fields of data available about each site.

Ringlink 2.51 is available for download. The reason for this release is a bug in version 2.5.
I've found that the daily update of the ringstats fails if there are one or more rings to which no sites have been added yet. The bug might prevent the whole program from working, which motivates this release.
If you previously have installed Ringlink 2.5, and don't want to do a full upgrade, you may confine yourself to replacing rlmain.pm with revision 1.122 of rlmain.pm from the CVS repository.
Enjoy!

Ringlink 2.5 is available for download. The principal new feature in this release is a listing of ring statistics. To see what it looks like, please visit the stats page for my own ring, Quotation Ring.
Important Note
It's important that you study the "Upgrade Note" in the readme.html file before upgrading to version 2.5.

Ringlink has been translated into Dutch by Frie van Broekhoven. Thanks, Frie, for your contribution.
The Dutch translation will be included in the next Ringlink release. In the meantime, you can download it from the CVS repository.

Ringlink has been translated into Chinese by Jay Liu. It's traditional Chinese ("Big5"), i.e. the Chinese characters used in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Thanks, Jay, for your efforts!
The Chinese translation required a few changes in the program, so I chose to make a new release. Ringlink 2.41 is now available for download.
Ringlink comes with the following 8 languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish. The program is designed to make it easy to translate it to further languages.
Enjoy!

I have looked high and low for any information on how I can provide a search option for the casual browser, to search the ring from the Ring HTML Code. Is this only something that can be accomplished through the ringadmin page or am I just a numb noobie (yes!).
I am definitely a novice, but that's why I love the open source community! How else can an old dog learn new tricks?
